Introduction

Hungersoft's Login as Customer extension for Magento 2.x is an easy-to-use tool that lets store administrators log into customer accounts on their store frontend. Administrators can do this directly and quickly from various sections of store backend. The extension comes handy when you want to see your store's frontend and experience it how your customers see and experience it. This can help you with quickly solving customer account related issues and also improve your online store.;

Installation

Web Setup Wizard

Unpack extension files: Log in to our website. Download the Base Extension. Unpack the Base extension file downloaded from our site and upload the contents of the file to the root directory of your Magento installation. Unpack the purchased extension file downloaded from our site and upload the contents of the file to the root directory of your Magento installation.
Go to System > Web Setup Wizard.
Select component manager to install the extension.
Enable Modules: Click on Select link on the Base Extension row(Module Name: HS_All). Click the Enable button on the menu that pops up. Next, click on the Select link on the row corresponding to the extension you downloaded (Module Name: HS_LoginAsCustomer).
Step 1: Readiness Check Click on the button Start Readiness Check to check you are running Magento on a compatible environment. Click Next upon completion of previous step.
Step 2: Create Backup Create a backup before you install the extension, by selecting the checkboxes against the Backup Options and clicking the button Create Backup. Click Next, upon completion.
Step 3: Enable Module Click on the button Enable.
You will see this page as your module installation is in progress. You can check for errors in the Console Log.
Module installation complete.

 

Configuration

Go to Stores > Settings > Configuration > Hungersoft extensions > Login As Customer. Click on it to open its settings.

General

• Enabled: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable the ‘Login as customer’ feature. This can be configured at a store view level if you have a multi-store setup.
• Disable page cache for admin: Select Yes/No to Enable/Disable page cache on frontend when the admin is logged in as a customer on frontend. This depends on the type of issue you are trying to check/solve on frontend. If you are checking an issue that can be related to page cache then we suggest you set it as ‘No’ so that you too can see the issue the customer is facing. For other type of tasks, we suggest you to keep the page cache disabled by choosing ‘No’ here.
  
  

When the extension is enabled, you can see ‘Login as customer’ link at following places in your Magento 2 backend:

• Customer grid (In Actions dropdown) and detail page
• Order grid (In Actions dropdown) and detail page
• Invoice grid (In Actions dropdown) and detail page
• Shipment grid (In Actions dropdown) and detail page
• Credit memo grid (In Actions dropdown) and detail page

Note that this ‘Login as customer’ link will only be available for orders/invoice/shipments/credit-memos of registered customers. This feature does not works for guest orders.

When you click on ‘Login as customer’ link, it will open the store frontend on a new browser tab and here you will be logged into the respective customer account and you can use the frontend as that customer. You will be able to access their dashboard and all of its section. You can also place orders on fronted on their behalf.

The extension also keeps a log of all admin logins in a dedicated grid. You can access it at Magento backend > Customers > Hungesoft Login as Customers > Admin login(s) > You will see a list of all incidents when admin logged in as a customer.
